MARCH 2022
During my time in the VDC Department, I was given a task to compare two schedules and identify the delays caused by a water reservoir and impacted soil quality found beneath one corner of the project site. As a solution, I created a 4D simulation video in Synchro which showed the first schedule on the left and the impacted schedule on the right, both tied to the same timeline. This was an effective communication tool for the team to demonstrate the delays caused by the water reservoir.
To create the 4D simulation, I had to tag each object with its respective dates and characteristics. This was a time-consuming process, but it allowed me to accurately display the impacts of the water reservoir on the project timeline. By having both schedules on the same timeline, it was easier for the team to visualize the impact of the delay and come up with a plan to mitigate it.
This 4D simulation was an important tool for the team, as it allowed us to identify the root cause of the delay and come up with a solution to overcome it. It was an effective way to communicate the impact of the water reservoir on the project timeline and ensure that everyone was on the same page. Overall, this experience taught me the importance of effective communication tools and how they can help teams work towards a common goal.
